Check out this infographic I made about Save the Bay!

On the field trip, I spent most of my time with my group collecting data. One memory I had with my group members (Chloe, Kristen, and Alysa) was when we were analyzing the biodiversity of the specific areas. I recall working together to obtain the information faster by allowing each person in the group to count the amount of plant species in a specific area. I believe we worked well and efficiently together. Another memory was when my group and I were calculating the biodiversity in the data table. We were all huddled near the car under the shade, completing out our calculations. I had a fund time collaborating with my awesome group.

I would not change anything about the experience because I had such a fun time! I really hoped to stay longer and do more data collecting. The warm and cool weather made the experience even better! I loved this field trip and the experience exceeded my expectations. This field trip should be done annually for the AP Biology class. I enjoyed the trip so much that I was not scared of getting my hands dirty for once! I wanted to learn more and integrate myself with the awesome SF Bay. I 100/10 recommend this trip!

  1. I can relate to the experience! I think I was in my senior year as well when we had such field trips, though we didn’t do it as a group. Now that you mentioned it, doing it as a group would have probably made more sense. I’m glad to hear you had so much fun learning. I know you only have a short time to do observations but were you able to site an example of the dependencies of biodiversity? I was thinking of maybe state like plant A is a major food group of insect A and insect A are preys for animal A and so forth. I think that would be a great challenge if your class had more time to actually observe that and record. That way, people will have a full understanding why each living organisms play an important role in the ecosystem and should strive not to upset the balance in order for them to survive.

  2. This field trip was so fun for me as well, and I really loved creating connections with all of our AP Bio teammates. I appreciate the infographic, the images really made the information you put on the infographic a lot more interesting and easy to understand. The rest of your blog post is amazing, I loved how you included different images of your group and how you collected data. I also liked how you explained how we collected data on biodiversity as we went up the levy. Overall, a really great blog post! I loved going on this field trip and I hope future classes have as much fun as we did, while also being citizen scientists.
